Similar to sharing your content, promoting your content can help you get more traffic for your post. There are two ways to do this:
1. Promoting to people you have featured in the post
2. Promoting to those whom you think might be interested in reading your post.
The first one is pretty self-explanatory – you cite a reference to your claim, then you tell that person, “Hey, I mentioned you in my post..” or something like that.
The second one takes a bit more effort to do but it does pay when you get to do it right. In order to achieve this, you have to build a list of people who have already shared a post similar to yours. Brian Dean calls this strategy the ‘content-roadshow’.
